History

This bank was originally registered as the Banaskantha District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. under The Bombay State Cooperative Act in 1959. In 1960, the Gujarat State was partitioned from Maharashtra and formed as separate state with cooperative regulation under Gujarat State Cooperative Societies Act 1961.  The patan district was included in its area of operation after the formation of new district. The bank is purely a cooperative body in its structure as only co-operative societies can be its members and individuals are enrolled as nominal members only.
